The Inveterate Interact | The Lunchtime Portraits

I had just finished taking a photo of a yogi offering free head massages on Cornmarket in Oxford, also seen in The Lunchtime Portraits, when this gentleman above, who had been observing, approached me and asked if I would take his portrait, too. Ever the good sport, I happily complied. When I finished, he walked back up and held out his hand. It wasn’t until that moment that I did the math. He had also observed me giving a pound toward the yogi’s cause, and he apparently figured that I was paying people for the pleasure of take their pictures and that he wanted in on the deal. I looked back over my actions and decided that I had essentially been doing just that. I gave him the pound.
